Day 1
Depart Abel Point Marina heading for Macona Inlet just across the Whitsunday Passage. This is a large anchorage that cuts into Hook Island from the south. It has two anchorages protected from all conditions except southerlies. Fishing can easily deliver lunch or dinner with little skill.
Day 2
After your first breakfast onboard, head on up Hook Island to Stonehaven anchorage. This is a fantastic bay for snorkelling. There are reef protection markers in place and you can either pick up a mooring if one is available or anchor outside the protected zone. It's a nice anchorage with views of Hayman, Bird, Langford and Black Islands. Settle back with a 'sundowner' and watch the sun set over the mainland and the Whitsunday passage and watch the lights come on at Hayman Island Resort.
Day 3
Next morning, head off to Blue Pearl Bay which is located at the North Western corner of Hayman Island. It offers excellent snorkelling and diving with a large variety of coral and plenty of sea life. As an anchorage it offers protection from South Easterlies, but other winds tend to see some swell appear during overnight stays.
Day 4
If you've seen pictures of the Whitsundays you would have seen Whitehaven Beach. Well known for its six kilometres of pure white sand, it is a very popular spot for day trippers and charterers alike. You can have lunch here and explore the beautiful beach.
Chance Bay is found on the south-eastern side of Whitsunday Island around the corner from Whitehaven Beach. Chance Bay is made up of two smaller bays each with a sand beach. There is also good snorkelling in both bays.
Day 5
Hidden between Cid Island and the western side of Whitsunday Island, Cid Harbour encompasses several bays and beaches and provides a number of anchoring opportunities. It's a popular spot for campers as well as large cruisers. Sometimes you'll also find ocean going vessels moored here to escape the elements. Dugong Inlet is a safe haven in stiff northerlies. All Weather Anchorage: Cid harbour provides excellent protection from most winds.
Day 6
Need to get your land legs, have a 'real' shower and stock up on supplies? Maybe you'd like a restaurant meal or need to dance the night away? Well - pay your mooring fee and you can share in the Hamilton Island experience. Hire a buggy and explore this wonderful island.. Stay an extra day and take a trip to the outer reef. Hamilton Island has it all. If you fly into Hamilton Island and you can even start or finish your charter there (charges apply for this though, please ask for costings)
Day 7
Situated across the Whitsunday Passage from Nara Inlet and Cid Harbour is South Molle Island. Anchor in Bauer Bay and visit the resort for a meal and entertainment or enjoy one of the many walks through the National Park. The views are spectacular! The island is famous for their Friday night seafood buffet!
Day 8
After a leisurely breakfast, a great sail to return to Abel Point Marina. All good things come to an end, but there is always next time!
